Comments: Got the book yesterday and spent 2 hours in glorious flashback! Great cover, colors, photos, musicians, hippies, text, memories, and artifacts - reminded me of the actual weekend, and of my trip back in 2004. I will read it word-for-word this summer. Great art and documentary!

Comments: This book is not just a history of the event, but a teleporting force that brings you right back to 1969 on that fateful day in all it's splendor. If you buy one book about Woodstock this should definately be the one.

Comments: A friend of mine, who makes the peace pendants out of the original Woodstock fence (www.peacefence.com), said, "This is the best book on Woodstock, and I've read them all." I also think it is the best book on the actual Woodstock Festival, while I think "Young Men with Unlimited Capital" is the best book on the events that lead up to the Festival, id est, how it came to be. In this 40th Anniversary text, there is a wonderful collection of pictures and stories of people who attended this historic event and I especially liked the before and after pictures showing how these people changed over the past four decades. The frosting on the cake was the wonderful collection of appendexes at the end pertaining to all things Woodstock. The authors hit this one out of the ball park. Congratulations to them for a superlative job.

Comments: I received my copy of Woodstock Peace, Music & Memories yesterday and in my opinion, this book is beyond compare. The weight is remarkable. The cover design, the page edges and artistry throughout is incredible. I've never seen a book quite like this. It's filled with memories and pictures that the authors have put together in a way as to re-create the whole Woodstock experience and place you right in the middle of the event. It was a thrilling read which took me back to a time that I remember so well. They also go further to tell of subsequent anniversary reunions, historic preservation efforts that took place, and the Woodstock site today. Some people say that if you remember Woodstock, you weren't there??? Well, this book proves them wrong This book is a definitely a treasure, a keepsake, and "Woodstock with class".

Comments: I've read every book on the famed '69 festival (and I was there myself), but this work truly reveals the spirit of the young people who were there, a very unique and moving tome. The richly detailed personal accounts and treasure trove of photos make this book hugely rewarding. Enjoy!

Comments: Photos in both black and white and color form a scrapbook appearance in 'you are there' pages from a range of Woodstock attendees' memories. The diversity of image and experience makes for a fine, loving recollection perfect for any library seeking to represent the Woodstock experience.

Comments: WOODSTOCK Peace, Music & Memories is a retrospective unlike any other book on the subject. It's not a collection of personal essays, but a unique combination of many memories from the attendees, performers, Hog Farmers, local residents, etc. and hundreds of personal photos that are arranged in a way to tell one complete, chronological story of this society changing event. Starting with what was just a dream of two men (Michael Lang & Artie Kornfeld), this book takes readers on a journey back to the months of preparation and days preceeding Aug 17, 1969, the circumstances and happenings which took place during the weekend itself, and the aftermath of what Time Magazine called the "greatest peaceful event in history". But the story doesn't stop there. This book goes on to include the concerts which paid homage, the annual Woodstock reunions and gatherings in Bethel, the historic preservation efforts to have the site listed on the National Register and what can be found when visiting that field today. Also contained within its pages is a chapter titled "Then and Now" - 40 year old photos placed side by side with current shots - which has already proven to be an aide to some trying to locate those special spots of interest when visiting the site and there's also a section on memorabilia and collectibles with hints on what to look for when purchasing an original Woodstock piece. WOODSTOCK Peace, Music & memories has been called "cosmic" by some, and has, in a sense, created a bridge from the past to the future. This book has brought about a resurgence of old friends as many of our contributors, and readers, have been reconnecting and reuniting with fellow Woodstock attendees, new contacts are being made, and others are finding themselves within the pages of pictures. This book has a scrapbook look with its mix of hundreds of color, sepia and black and white photos and invites readers on a trek back to Yasgur's Farm and three days of peace and music. Everyone from baby-boomers to our younger generations, those who were there and those who wish they were, to collectors and historians will find this book to be enjoyable, interesting, and that it serves as a unique tribute to three history-making days in '69.
