Comments: The desire to look cool played a major role in guitar design. That becomes abundantly clear paging through Classic Guitars, which chronicles the evolution of some of the finest guitars ever built. Early guitars reflected the design of violins and mandolins. But with the advent of rock'n'roll that all changed. Gibson's Everly Brothers acoustics, the Mosrite Ventures and Fender's custom Eric Clapton Stratocaster are examples. Even country became cool when Gretsch's Chet Atkins' Hollow Body debuted in 1954. These and hundreds of other guitars will rock your world.
